Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information McKay Law, PLLC collects through mckaylawok.com — including when you request an appointment — how we use and protect it, and the choices you have.
01 Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through the website located at mckaylawok.com (the "Site"), operated by McKay Law, PLLC ("McKay Law," the "Firm," "we," "us," or "our"). It does not govern information you provide to the Firm after you have become a client through a signed engagement agreement; that information is handled in accordance with the Firm's professional obligations and your engagement terms.
By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. This policy should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.
02 Information We Collect
Information you provide directly. When you request or schedule a consultation, complete a contact or intake form, or otherwise communicate with us through the Site, we may collect:
- Your name and preferred contact details (email address, phone number, mailing address);
- The date and time you request for an appointment;
- A general description of the legal matter or reason for your inquiry that you choose to share; and
- Any other information you voluntarily include in your message.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we may automatically collect certain technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring page, and the dates and times of your visits. This information is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 4).
Please share only the information necessary to request an appointment. Do not submit confidential, sensitive, or time-sensitive details through the Site until an attorney-client relationship has been established in writing.
03 How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your inquiries and schedule, confirm, or reschedule consultations and appointments;
- Conduct conflict-of-interest checks before any representation;
- Communicate with you about your request or, where permitted, about the Firm's services;
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site and understand how it is used; and
- Comply with applicable law and the Firm's professional and ethical obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
04 Cookies & Analytics
The Site may use cookies and similar technologies to operate properly, remember your preferences, and measure traffic. We may use analytics services, such as [e.g., Google Analytics], to understand how visitors use the Site. These services may set their own cookies and process technical information under their own privacy policies.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. If you disable cookies, some features of the Site may not function as intended.
05 How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share it only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers. With vendors who perform services on our behalf — such as website hosting, appointment scheduling, email delivery, and analytics — who are permitted to use the information only to provide those services to us.
- Legal requirements. When required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Firm, our clients, or others.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, reorganization, or similar event involving the Firm, consistent with applicable professional rules.
06 Confidentiality & Attorney-Client Privilege
Contacting the Firm through the Site does not create an attorney-client relationship, and information you submit before such a relationship is established in writing may not be protected as confidential or privileged.
Because of this, please do not send confidential or sensitive information through the Site's forms or by email until we have confirmed in writing that the Firm represents you. Once an attorney-client relationship is established, your communications and information will be handled in accordance with the Oklahoma Rules of Professional Conduct and applicable law.
07 Data Retention
We retain information collected through the Site for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy — including responding to your inquiry, performing conflict checks, and meeting our legal, regulatory, and professional recordkeeping obligations — after which we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it. Retention periods for client information are governed separately by the applicable engagement and professional rules.
08 Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Any information you transmit through the Site is provided at your own risk.
09 Your Choices & Rights
You may:
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information you have submitted through the Site;
- Opt out of non-essential communications from the Firm at any time, including by using any unsubscribe link or by contacting us; and
- Adjust your browser settings to limit cookies.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 14. We will respond consistent with applicable law and our professional obligations; certain information may be retained where required.
10 Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is not yet a common industry standard for responding to these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them. We will update this section if our practices change.
11 Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
12 Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to third-party websites or services that we do not control. This policy does not apply to those sites, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.
13 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time by posting the revised version on this page. Changes are effective when posted, and the "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
